As we reported earlier, the Vivo X Fold 2 unboxing video gave us a clear glimpse of the foldable phone’s design. Now, fresh details have emerged about the phone’s camera specifications. Vivo is rumored to be launching its highly anticipated X Fold 2 in April, alongside another clamshell foldable device, the Vivo X Flip, and a new tablet, the Vivo Pad 2. With the X Fold 2 poised to be a game-changer in the foldable phone category, Vivo is certainly making a bold statement in the mobile industry.
According to a post by Digital Chat Station, a reliable Chinese source for tech news, the Vivo X Fold 2 will feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 sensor as its primary rear camera with support for OIS (optical image stabilization) technology. The image specifications are expected to range between f/1.75-f/2.0 and 16mm-47mm, indicating that the phone will be capable of capturing high-quality images with a wide aperture range and varying focal lengths.
In addition to the primary camera, the phone will also be equipped with an IMX663 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12MP IMX663 2X portrait medium-focus lens. The phone’s camera system will be further complemented with Zeiss T* coating technology, which is known to enhance the sharpness, contrast, and color accuracy of images. The V2 ISP (Image Signal Processor) will also be present, which will aid in improving the phone’s image processing capabilities, resulting in high-quality photos and videos.
All the cameras on the Vivo X Fold 2 are situated within a circular module, which not only looks sleek but also allows for optimal placement of the lenses. However, some reports suggest that the phone will not feature a periscope lens, which has left some of the fans disappointed. A periscope lens is capable of providing optical zooming capabilities to the camera system, which is a highly sought-after feature in modern smartphones.
As previously reported by Gadgetian, the Vivo X Fold 2 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform, delivering an impressive AnTuTu benchmark score of 1.31 million+. The phone will be available in a 12GB+512GB storage configuration, and will run on Android 13-based system.
The X Fold 2 is also expected to come with an 8-inch Samsung E6 screen, offering a 2K resolution and a 120Hz high refresh rate. The LTPO dynamic high refresh rate and support for 3D ultrasonic screen fingerprint will also be present. Furthermore, the phone will feature a built-in 4800mAh dual-cell battery, capable of supporting 120W fast charging, making it the first Snapdragon 8 Gen2 folding screen phone to support 100W fast charging.
