Google Pushes Android 14 Beta 1.1 to Fix Multiple Bugs

Android 14 Beta 1.1 to Fix Multiple Bugs

After receiving a lukewarm reception to its Android 14 Beta rollout a few weeks ago, Google is now releasing an updated version – the Android 14 Beta 1.1 – aimed at fixing several bugs. However, the tech giant has responded swiftly by releasing a new update to the Android 14 Beta today for the selected Pixel phones, which aims to address at least five of these issues.

The new update is intended to address at least 5 issues that users had previously reported in the initial Android 14 Beta 1 release. This latest update specifically targets five known issues, including bugs with the Wallpaper & Style screen, broken fingerprint unlock, mobile network display on the status bar, and issues with SIM and eSIM activations. Additionally, the Smart Lock message confusion has been resolved with this update.

Here’s the full list of bug fixes in Android 14 Beta 1.1 in more detail:

  • Fixed an issue where the system UI crashed when trying to access the Wallpaper & Style screen either through the Settings app, or by long-pressing from the home screen. (Issue #277938424)
  • Fixed some issues that prevented fingerprint unlock from being used. (Issue #272403537)
  • Fixed an issue where the status bar did not display the mobile network. (Issue #277892134)
  • Fixed an issue that prevented a SIM card or eSIM from being detected or activated in some cases. (Issue #278026119)
  • Fixed an issue where the lock screen displayed a message with an unresolved string placeholder when Smart Lock was enabled. (Issue #278011057)

The primary improvement is for the in-display fingerprint sensor, which had been malfunctioning on the Pixel 6+, making it barely usable. Furthermore, if you have themed icons enabled, you may now access the Wallpaper & Style feature.

The Android 14 Beta 1.1 updates are available to a range of Pixel devices, including the Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro.
