Moto has finally managed to bring the highly-anticipated Android 2.2 Froyo firmware update available to its Motorola Milestone (the European version of the original Droid) users. The latest Froyo update brings the new features and enhancements like a faster just-in-time compiler.
Bear in mind that this is not an over-the-air (OTA) update. Users must be connected to PC via a data cable to upgrade the Froyo firmware on their Milestone handsets. The Froyo upgrading may take a linger time to finish the installation.
Some of the new Improvements with Froyo Update
- # Android Flash Player 10.1 Compatibility (10.2 version to release very soon)
# Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot – Share high-speed connectivity with up to five other devices.
# Android Market Updates; Enhancements in apps.
# Improved Home Screen – Shortcuts for instant access to phone functions, apps and the web browser # Lock Screen – For entering a numeric pin or alphanumeric password.
# Card App Storage – Save to and run apps from your memory card
# Improved Performance – Faster website loading and smoother multitasking
# Onscreen buttons provide easy access to a new UI for controlling zoom, flash, white balance and etc.
# Multiple languages have been added to the keyboard – you can change the keyboard language on fly.
# More integrated services like GoogleQuickSearchBox, GenieWidget, Latitude, Navigator, Places.
# See your friend’s Facebook status and birthday on the caller ID.
Motorola said that RM-locked media you have on your SD card will be lost, during the Froyo upgrading. Quite a disappointment!
