A week ago, Intel announced the first smartphone for Africa, Yolo which is packed with Intel Atom Chip Z2420 1.2 GHz Processor. Yesterday, Acer and Intel Corporation announced an Android powered smartphone, Acer Liquid C1 packed with the same Intel’s Atom Z2420 processor especially for the Asia Pacific region. You can note that Intel Atom Z2420 mobile processor, codenamed Lexington was announced at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. The Acer Liquid C1 smartphone will be available with a special promotion during Mobile Expo from February 7-11.
The Acer Liquid C1 will come with a 4.3-inch IPS display with 960 X 540 pixels of resolution, powered by 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420m x86 single-core processor with Hyper-Threading technology, an 8 megapixel rear-facing auto-focus camera, 4GB internal memory, a microSD slot for memory expansion up to 32GB, micro USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 Wi-Fi b/g/n, A-GPS, 2,000mAh battery and all the features of an Android phone. The Acer Liquid C1 will be running Google’s Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS out of the box.
In Asia, the smartphone will be available in Bangkok priced at 9,990 baht (which is approx. $335). But there’s no word when the device will be available in other countries in the region.
