On Friday, Apple has started seeding the iOS 5 beta 4 version for the developers to test on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, and third and fourth-generation iPod touch devices. Along with the latest beta 4 of iOS 5, Apple has also pushed out a new beta of iTunes, and the The new software carries the build number “9A5274d”. Apple has released the beta 3 of iOS 5 exactly two weeks ago. Apple released the first beta on June 6th, the second on Jun 24, and the third on July 11th.
The latest iOS 5 beta 4 is holding a lot of exciting features. Developers can now download the latest iOS 5 beta in Apple’s dev channel, and, for the first time, through the over-the-air (OTA) updates. Yes! It can be done Over-The-Air (OTA). No PC will be required to install the iOS updates. Go to General tab in your Settings app and select Software Updates for OTA update. You will see the support for wireless iTunes sync on Pcs, as long as the iPhone, iPod, or iPad is on the same Wi-Fi network, and plugged into a power source. Some of the enhancements, bug fixes, and changes to come along with the latest beta 4 of iOS 5 are:
# Enhanced AirPlay support.
# Support for wireless iTunes sync on Pcs.
# MobileMe/iCloud calendars un-syncing problem fix – just remove and re-add the account.
# iCloud Storage file names are case sensitive.
# Twitter app will prompt you if it’s unable to identify your location before you exit it.
# No communication b/n iMessage beta 1 users and iMessage beta 2 or later version running users.
# An updated WebKit engine.
# Need to re-sync your photos afterward, with them disappearing during the update.
# Several OpenGL extensions have been moved from the APPLE namespace to the EXT namespace.
# You need to re-sync your photos with iTunes if you are upgrading to beta 4 from beta 3 via OTA software update.
# Can’t join personal hotspot on iPhone 4 due to a non-functional Wi-Fi tethering.
# FaceTime icon disappears from Settings menu of iPhone.
# iOS 5.0 terminates VoIP applications that are resumed in the background for incoming network traffic with extreme frequency.
# Fixed: Can’t select an hour value greater than 12 in calendar app using 24 hr clock.
