Asus has announced the global launch of its latest gaming phones – the Asus ROG Phone 7 and the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. These new phones are the successors to last year’s ROG Phone 6 series and come with upgraded hardware while retaining the same design as their predecessors.
The Asus ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate share the same core component – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which is coupled with a maximum of 16GB LPDDR5X (8533Hz) RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The ROG Phone 7 Ultimate boasts a few notable upgrades over the standard model. Firstly, it features an AeroActive portal that enables direct airflow onto the vapor chamber, promoting better cooling. Additionally, it sports the trademark ROG Vision display on the back panel, providing gamers with an added touch of style. Furthermore, the Ultimate also comes equipped with a horizontal camera module, which offers improved photography capabilities. Lastly, the device features a secondary display that can showcase the Republic of Gamers logo, animations, or even messages.
To enhance the gaming experience, the ASUS ROG Phone 7 series is designed to work with the AeroActive Cooler 7 accessory, which is said to provide a 20 percent improvement in cooling efficiency. Along with superior cooling, the accessory features a 5-magnet super linear subwoofer with a 13*38mm speaker to enhance the sound quality. Furthermore, the ASUS ROG Phone 7 series comes equipped with dual stereo speakers that are tuned by Dirac and support spatial audio, making it an audio powerhouse as well.
When paired with the AeroActive Cooler 7, the Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate’s AeroActive portal opens up to provide even better cooling capabilities. According to Asus’ testing lab, even after an hour of extreme usage, the phone barely heats up, which is a remarkable feat.
The ROG Phone 7 series also features the iconic AirTrigger ultrasonic shoulder controls that support gestures like Dual Action, Press and Lift, and Gyroscope Aiming. The X-axis linear vibration motor delivers vibration mapping for on-screen buttons and actions, providing realistic haptic feedback.
Moreover, the ROG Phone 7 can enable ray tracing in supported games, which enhances the visual quality by providing more realistic reflections on water and metal surfaces, making the gaming experience even more immersive.
The display on the ROG Phone 7 duo boasts a massive 6.78-inch size and a high-resolution of 2448×1080 pixels. It is made by Samsung and is even brighter than its predecessor with a peak brightness of 1,500nits. The screen supports a variable refresh rate of up to 165Hz, allowing for a smoother and more fluid gaming experience. The touch sampling rate has also been improved to 720Hz, ensuring fast and accurate response times to user input.
With a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, HDR10+ support, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection, the display provides an immersive visual experience with exceptional clarity and vivid colors. The in-screen fingerprint scanner adds a layer of security and convenience for users. Moreover, the phones are also IP54-certified dust and waterproof, ensuring durability and reliability even in harsh environments.
The ASUS ROG Phone 7 series boasts a comprehensive cooling system to keep the gaming phones running at optimal temperatures during intense gameplay. This system includes a Boron Nitride layer, dual graphite sheets covering an area of 16,000mm², and a rapid cycle vapor chamber that efficiently dissipates heat. Additionally, the phones feature iconic AirTrigger ultrasonic air shoulder controls, which support a range of gestures, including dual actions, press and lift, and gyroscope aiming. The X-Axis linear motor provides realistic haptic feedback to enhance the gaming experience.
Asus decided to stick with the same camera setup as the previous model for the ROG Phone 7. The phone still features a 50MP IMX766 primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a dedicated 5MP macro lens on the back. The front-facing camera has a 32MP OmniVision OV32C Quad-Bayer sensor, which produces 8MP images.
In addition to the powerful hardware, the ASUS ROG Phone 7 series also boasts the Snapdragon Elite Gaming technology that enables ray tracing in supported games for even more realistic graphics. The phones are equipped with a 6,000mAh battery that supports fast charging at up to 65W, ensuring that you can spend more time gaming and less time tethered to a charger.
The dimensions of the Asus ROG Phone 7 are 173 x 77 x 10.4mm, and it weighs 239g. The standard model is available in two color options – Phantom Black and Storm White, while the Ultimate variant is exclusively available in Storm White. Additionally, both models have an IP54 rating for splash resistance, providing some protection against water and dust.
The ROG Phone 7 is now up for pre-order in Europe and Taiwan via Asus’ official online store and retail partners. The standard 7 model starts at €999, but the AeroActive Cooler is not included in the package (priced separately at €110). On the other hand, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is priced at €1,399, which includes the cooler.
Thank you for the update on the pricing and availability of the Asus ROG Phone 7 in India. It’s great to know that the phone will be available through ASUS India’s website and Vijay Sales. With a starting price of Rs 74,999 for the vanilla variant and Rs 99,999 for the Ultimate variant, it seems like a premium gaming phone that will appeal to gaming enthusiasts who are willing to invest in a high-end device.
