It looks like manufactures and the carriers are bothering about their customers and rolling out the maintenance firmware updates right after launching the new handsets, as well as the Gingerbread updates for the older handsets.
Past few days, it has been update galore for Android users in the USA, dominated by the Gingerbread roll out. Earlier, we’ve reported about the Sprint branded Kyocera Echo and HTC Chacha handsets’ latest firmware updates.
Android Froyo powered bigger touchscreen equipped Samsung Infuse 4G has been rocking by AT&T customers for a while now. AT&T now started rolling out an OTA update for the handset. Samsung Infuse 4G handset owners must have been waiting for Gingerbread update on their smartphones. But this is just a minor maintenance update, which is weighing at the size of 8MB only. The updated build number is being treated as FROYO.UCKE3. The latest firmware OTA update will be specifically fixing an issue that relates to email syncing with Microsoft Exchange 2003 servers. That’s all it has to offer for now. No more features are expected to be included in this minor update. After finishing the installation procedure of this update, Samsung Infuse 4G handset owners should be seeing the Firmware version as ‘2.2.1’, Build Number as ‘FROYO.UCKE3’, and the Baseband version as ‘I997UCKE3’ on their smartphones.
Samsung Infuse 4G users should head over to Home –> Settings –> About Phone –> Check for OTA update. Users might be getting the notification on their smartphones about this update.
