Early signs are looking good for Apple’s AirPods lovers. A new report for the AirPods, and the AirPods Max claims Apple is currently working on ultra affordable AirPods, and the second-generation of AirPods Max – Apple’s wireless overhead headphones. According to the Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a pretty solid track record with his Apple predictions, mass shipments of second-generation of AirPods Max and cheaper version of AirPods will probably begin in the second half of 2023 or the first of half of 2025.
Following Jeff Pu’s report, Kuo is the second analyst in recent times who reported on the possibility of so-called “AirPods Lite.” It is worth mentioning that the moniker AirPods Lite is just a tentative name. He said Apple is aiming for a $99 price tag (roughly translates to ₹ 8,065) for the entry-level standard AirPods. Apple s currently selling the second-generation AirPods for $129, while the third-generation AirPods start at $169 with a lightning charging case and at $179 with a MagSafe case.
He also claimed top-of-the-line AirPods Max will be upgraded after three full years since their first release in December 2020. Kuo hasn’t mentioned any additional details about what exactly will be new about the upcoming version of the AirPods Max.

The next-generation AirPods will likely begin mass shipments in 2H24 or 1H25, including more affordable AirPods (with Apple targeting a price of $99) and new AirPods Max, which will be assembled by Luxshare ICT and Hon Teng.
We guess Apple may focus on improvising sound quality with lossless playback support, improved noise cancellation, improved battery life, USB-C port instead of Lightning, and new color variants. Apple initially launched the premium over-ear noise-cancelling AirPods Max headphones for $549.
