Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve is one of the popular professional-grade video editing and color correction apps among video bloggers. This app has already been available for PC, Mac and Linux for a number of years. After a long wait, the DaVinci Resolve app is a now also available for Apple iPad.
DaVinci Resolve for iPad is designed to be optimized for iPads with Apple’s silicon chips, like the new iPad Pro with the M2 chip and the previous-gen M1 chip powered and iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets. DaVinci Resolve for iPad is capable as its desktop counterpart
Blackmagic has confirmed that the app delivers 4x faster Ultra HD ProRes rendering on the new iPad Pro with M2, while the other M1-based iPads will get the similar improvements in the near future. Older iPads said to be not getting all of Resolve’s features. You can hook up an external display or editing ProRes footage on M1 and M2 powered iPads only.
DaVinci Resolve for iPad brings similar functionality and tools of the desktop version, with slight changes in the user interface to better suit the iPad. Users can take advantage of all the features from the desktop app including color correction, editing, cloud collaboration and AI-based magic masks and voice isolation.
The iPad owners will also be able to import existing DaVinci Resolve 18 projects on the iPad app. The DaVinci Resolve Studio for iPad with several premium features comes in at 2GB and is compatible with iPadOS 16 and up devices with the A12 Bionic chipset or later. This version supports H.264, H.265, ProRes and Blackmagic RAW media files. You will also get support for Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio as well as the Magic Trackpad.
