Yesterday, Google started selling the Android 4.2 powered Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 on Google Play Store and it also brought the release of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung galaxy Nexus smartphones. Now, it appears that the firmware is reaching Nexus 7 line ups over-the-air.
Galaxy Nexus users have begun reporting that an over-the-air update that upgrades devices from Android 4.1 to Android 4.2 is rolling out now. We also came to know that the update can be applied only to the GSM versions of the Galaxy Nexus, not the CDMA/LTE variants of the phone tied to Sprint and Verizon. The new firmware bumped the build number up to JOP40C.
Anton D. Nagy from PocketNow reports that he has checked on his own Nexus 7 and has received the above OTA notification of the download size around 80MB and it took around five minutes to install successfully.
Jelly Bean 4.2 is an update on the existing 4.1 version which will add Photosphere support with 360 degree panoramas, improved Google now, Gesture Typing which is similar to the popular Swype keyboard app, new Clock app, a new screensaver called Daydream, and various other improvements and you can use two fingers or the button at top right of the notification area to access quick settings. owners won’t be able to initially benefit from the much talked about multi user support, which won’t be the part of this Android 4.2 build. There’s a Triple-tap support magnification which works everywhere except the keyboard and navigation bar.
If you aren’t interested to download through OTA, you can still download the update zip from the link given below.
