Recently, at a press event on Tuesday, Facebook announced the Graph search feature. With this, you will be able to enter more specific search queries and get results based on the massive amount of data, something you cannot do with regular web search. Earlier, it was rumored that at the event, Facebook will unveil something related to mobile devices such as a Facebook phone, or a new Facebook Mobile OS but they didn’t unveil neither phone nor OS at that event except Graph search.
After announcing the new Graph Search feature, today Facebook has started rolling out another salient feature, VoIP which can make voice calls from the mobile app to any of your friends. This feature is currently working on the iOS version of Facebook’s mobile app. It is now available only within the US.
There is no need to update the app to get this feature. In order to initiate a voice call, you ought to go to the person’s account, then click the “i” button in the top right corner and click on the “Free call” option. A push notification will be shown when you receive a call. The Verge reported that the voice quality is quite good and can compare to other services like Skype, Viber, Vonage etc.
Yet there is no further info regarding the availability of this feature in other regions and when Facebook will introduce this feature to other mobile platforms as well.
