The Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition made its debut in October 2022, which was the first smartwatch to run on Wear OS 3. Today, at CES 2023, the manufacturer has launched another smartwatch, called Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition. This edition comes in e-ink category and without Wear OS. That means it runs on a proprietary system.
The Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition comes packed with a 44mm case that supports 20m straps, an E-ink 218 PPI grayscale display, featuring a backlight, so you can see it in the dark. It offers super long battery life up to 2-week, unlike the non-hybrid watches that only last a couple of days. You can charge its battery up to 80% in 60 minutes. It is built in 11.4mm thick boy, and has got a dial with hour and minute markers, and there’s also a three physical buttons setup on the right edge.
Fossil’s Hybrid collection in fact try and combine the best of a regular watch and a smartwatch. Though, it doesn’t run Wear OS, it still is able to track lots of health metrics (like SpO2 and heart rate) and also let you customize your watch face.
This latest Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness also has 3ATM water resistance, automatic workout detection, heart rate sensor with zones, blood oxygen SpO2 and VO2Max tracking, and Alexa integration. You can receive notifications from your phone for calls and text messages. It will also show the weather, check your calendar, find your phone, and let you control music. Everything can be controlled using the companion Fossil Smartwatch app
There is a microphone embedded, a “Wellness Gauge” watch face, as well as several color options. Other features are including Bluetooth 5.0, and pretty quick charging. It lets you talk to Amazon Alexa, but it doesn’t have speaker, and you can’t answer a call.
The new Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition launches for $229 later this week on January 5th in a black dial and case (FTW7080), blue dial with silver case (FTW7082), and pink with rose gold (FTW7083). They will be offered with black, blue and pink wrist straps to match their bezels.
