The Samsung Galaxy S II, arguably one of the best Android smartphones available in the world right now, has set a new record in terms of sales. Samsung has just issued a press release saying that it sold 3 million units of Samsung Galaxy S II smartphones ever since the phone was launched 55 days ago. Eventually, Galaxy S II has thus become the quickest selling Samsung phone. Original Samsung Galaxy S took 85 days to reach the same mark last year.
3 million units is not a small number (in just 55 days!), it means that on an average a new Galaxy S II phone is sold in every 1.5 seconds. The number also includes the 120,000 units that were shipped on the very first of the launch of the phone in South Korea. Samsung is determined to bring it to 120 more countries very soon. And with the major U.S. carriers gearing up for their own variants of Galaxy S II (Attain – AT&T, Within – Sprint and Function – Verizon Wireless), the number can only go up steeply.
Samsung Galaxy S II packs a powerful 1.2GHz dual-core ARM Cortex- A9 processor, 8 megapixel camera with LED flash with 1080p HD video recording capability, 2 megapixel front camera for video chats, 4.27-inch Super AMOLED display (800 x 480) , 1GB RAM, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS etc.
