While Samsung’s foldable phones have made great strides in recent years, their cameras have remained a weak spot compared to other high-end devices. However, with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, it seems Samsung is making some changes. The latest leaks reveal both good news and bad news regarding their camera capabilities.
Certainly, when it comes to smartphone photography, Samsung Galaxy foldable phones have not been the front runners, with the company’s Ultra phones generally leading the pack. Regrettably, according to a recent leak, it seems that this trend will continue with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
According to the camera specifications shared on Twitter by tipster Yogesh Brar, it appears that not much has changed in terms of the camera capabilities of the upcoming Galaxy foldables.
As per the leak, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 will offer camera specs similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device is expected to feature a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto camera. While the focal length of the telephoto camera is unknown, it is anticipated that it will be a 3x camera like last year’s Fold, rather than a 5x or 10x shooter.
The latest leak also suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will not have a telephoto camera and will instead come with a dual rear camera system featuring a 12MP main shooter and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

– 50MP + 12MP (UW) + 10MP (Tele)

– 12MP + 12MP (UW)
– Improved hinge
– New image sensors
– Large outer displays
– Qualcomm Snapdragon for Galaxy
The good news is the phones will reportedly come with new camera sensors. That’s a positive development. While the camera specs may not have changed much from their predecessors, new camera sensors could still potentially improve image quality. It’s still unknown whether all the sensors will be upgraded or just some of them, but more information is likely to come out as the announcement date approaches.
It seems like the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will not only see camera upgrades but also improvements in other areas, such as hinge design and display size. Additionally, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm is expected to power the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which could offer improved performance over its predecessor. It’s possible that the Z Fold 5 will have thinner bezels to accommodate a larger outer display, although this hasn’t been confirmed. It will be interesting to see what other features and improvements Samsung will bring to its upcoming foldable devices.
