Google has a reputation for not being able to keep secrets, and this time is no different. As the Pixel 7a launch event is approaching on May 10th, key specifications and promotional materials have been leaked online along with accompanying images.
Thanks to previous massive leaks, we already have a good idea of how the Pixel 7a will look and what its specifications are. The latest leak sheds more light on the upcoming Google Pixel 7a, revealing some significant upgrades under the hood. The MySmartPrice team was able to obtain promotional materials of the device prior to its official release, which not only confirmed its design but also disclosed its key specs.
The upcoming Google Pixel 7a has been confirmed to feature a horizontal, visor-like camera module on its back through newly leaked promo materials. These images also confirm the dual-camera setup with an LED flash, which we had previously revealed in our exclusive leak. The Pixel 7a will boast a 64MP main camera sensor, which is touted to offer the best-quality photos ever on an A-series Pixel, according to the leaked marketing content. Previous rumors suggest that the device will use a Sony IMX787 main camera sensor, and it is expected to feature a 12MP ultra-wide camera alongside it.
The images also confirm that the phone will feature the Tensor G2 SoC ticking away inside along with a Titan M2 security chip. One of the images shows a wireless charging dock, suggesting that the Pixel 7a will support wireless charging, which would be a first for any Google A series device. Although the images do not confirm this, the Pixel 7a is rumored to support 5W wireless charging.
The device is also touted to provide a long-lasting battery life. According to Google, the Pixel 7a will deliver up to 72 hours of battery backup in Extreme Battery Saver mode. The flat display will support a 90Hz refresh rate, and it will also have adaptive refresh rate technology that will automatically switch between 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates depending on the content being displayed.
The images do not confirm the screen size. It is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED panel. The phone is tipped to offer more RAM and storage. There will be 8GB of RAM as standard along with 128GB and 256GB of memory. Lastly, the phone will launch with Android 13 out of the box and will be sold in three colours — Light Blue, Grey and Silver.
The US Cellular website has already listed the Google Pixel 7a, and sources have indicated that it will be sold for $499, a higher price than the previous model. Nonetheless, the increased cost may be justified by the device’s significant improvements over its predecessor.
