Google has been working on its first foldable device, which is often being called as “Pixel Fold,” but the name isn’t confirmed yet. So far, we haven’t heard any concrete details about its specifications. Today, a reputable leakster, Kuba Wojciechowski has revealed a few key specs of the Pixel foldable.

The rumored Pixel Foldable device (code-named “Felix”) appears to be having Samsung AMOLED screens. The device will have an external display as well as an internal large screen, just like the Galaxy Z Fold series, and vivo X Fold series. According to Kuba, the Pixel Fold’s internal large screen is expected to deliver a resolution of 2208 x 1840 pixels, and it measures at 123 x 148 mm. If you remember, the Galaxy Z Fold4’s display bears 1812 x 2176px of resolution. Kuba claims the display should delver a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits, with an average brightness output of 800 nits. The display’s exact refresh rate is unknown at the moment, but we can expect it to be around 120Hz. Further, the report suggests that Google has requested Samsung Display to develop a foldable OLED panel around 7.6-inch in size. He also heard that the panel shipments will start in January next year.

Kuba has no information abut the external cover display of the Pixel Fold. But, according to previous reports stated by Ross Young, it is rumored to feature a 5.8-inch cover display which deliver wider aspect ratio, which is similar to the Oppo Find N.

Kubo also retrieved some more information about camera specs of the Pixel foldable device based on Android 13 code. He claims the Pixel Fold will be offered with a triple rear camera setup – which includes a Sony IMX787 sensor as primary, coupled with an S5K3J1 telephoto lens and an IMX386 ultra-wide lens. The inner display may feature an 8MP IMX355 sensor, and on the front side, there will be an S5K3J1 telephoto selfie camera. Based on recent reports, it is also rumored that the Pixel Foldable won’t have the super fancy camera systems of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, instead they will rely on their 12MP camera that was used in the Pixel 3 through the Pixel 5. The foldable will probably be powered by a Tensor chipset under the hood.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 might be the king of foldable devices in the current scenarios, but it also has its drawback such as heavy weight, its inner display is being taunted as weird shape. Previous reports suggested that Google had planned to launch it’s first foldable in Q4 of this year, but that’s no longer happening. Because, Googlecouldn;t finish built the device not being as complete as it wants. Google wants to take more time, perfect it, and make it competitive without any drawbacks and beat Samsung’s hugely successful foldables.

According to some reliable sources, the Google Pixel Fold is rumored to be released in the first quarter of 2023. We’ll continue to update you on the first foldable device from Google, and you can expect to hear much in the coming months.
