We heard multiple times that the Chinese manufacturer will soon launch the next flagship Honor Magic 5 series of smartphone in China. There will be a vanilla Honor Magic 5 and two premium models called Magic 5 Pro and Magic 5 Ultimate.
Leakster Digital Chat Station claims that the Honor Magic 5 series is code named “Piaget.” Ahead of the launch, a device which will have model number PGT-AN00 has bagged approval from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT). The CMIIT certification for PGT-AN00 doesn’t reveal anything much. It just confirmed that the device supports NR NSA/NR SA/TD-LTE/LTE FDD/WCDMA/CDMA 1X/GSM; 2), and also supports 5G-enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) technology
The phone in the above image you are seeing at a speculative render (based on concept) of the Honor Magic 5 with a triple camera setup on the back, and it expected to carry the similar circular camera island from its predecessor, but the camera layout looks different. Panels for the Magic 5 camera island also pictured below. You can observe the 100x zoom label on the panels, which refers to digital zoom.
DCS also claims that Honor Magic 5 Pro and Ultimatum models will have quad 50MP cameras, or else some modules could have 64MP sensors instead. To recall, previous-gen Pro and Ultimate models had 3.5x lenses and higher resolution 64MP sensors with telephoto capabilities
Each model of the Honor Magic 5 series is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets. Thee is also lite version in this series. Recently, a device called Magic 5 Lite has been recently listed on Google Play Console, which will be operated using a slightly overclocked Snapdragon 695 SoC.
We can expect to see additional certifications for these four Honor Magic 5 variants to come up in the next few weeks, and the manufacturer rumored to launch this series on February 27th.
