Back in early November, the Chinese manufacturer has announced the initial batch of Android devices destined for Ice Cream Sandwich OS upgrades. Today on its Facebook page, HTC has announced the confirmed handsets list that will be upgraded to the latest and greatest version of the Android OS in the first batch. Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich OS update will be rolled out for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G, HTC Sensation XE and HTC Sensation XL devices by the end of March.
HTC has also confirmed that Verizon branded HTC Rezound, HTC EVO Design 4G, and EVO 3D handsets also will be upgraded to ICS OS in the following batch later this year. This time, the manufacturer has also added the AT&T branded HTC Vivid, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and Desire HD handsets to the list. Unfortunately, there is now word on the timeframe of the ICS update for the second batch devices.
Bad news is that, HTC hasn’t mentioned about the first 4G LTE capable HTC Thunderbolt handset’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS updating status. HTC Droid Incredible 2 and HTC Inspire 4G handsets also haven’t been added to the list. Don’t be panic, if your device hasn’t been mentioned in the lists. Here is the statement from HTC on Facebook:
“HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.
In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO”
