The first 4G LTE capable HTC Thunderbolt is still getting some treatments and goodies from Verizon Wireless. The carrier is now rolling out a new firmware update for its HTC Thunderbolt handset, bringing the software version to 2.11.605.9 from 2.11.605.5. The over-the-air update will bring the following features, enhancements and bug fixes.
# Improvements to notification volume.
# Fixes issue with contact ringtones.
# Twitter API has been updated for Peep/FriendStream.
# Local streaming playback mechanism will be updated when network connection is not available.
# Addition of the Clock app in All App list.
# Exchange ActiveSync improvisation.

The new firmware update for Thunderbolt is 36.152MB. To pull the OTA update in manual process, HTC Thunderbolt owners should move over to “Menu” > “Settings” > “About Phone” > “Settings” > “System Update” > and tap the Status or Check New button–> If update found –> Wait for some to finish the downloading process –> Tap Install button –> Installation should start now –> Handset Reboots Automatically –> Tap the OK button on screen –> Follow the on-screen instructions until the process to get finished and the handset will reboot 3 times –> Done. The Gingerbread piece of cake should be ready now to taste on your handset. After finishing the installation of the update, the software version should be shown as 2.11605.9 and the new radio should be 1.48.00.0930w_3, 0.01.78.0916w_3.
