There have been considerate delays in the launch of the Windows Phone 8 device from Huawei, the Ascend W1. We had earlier reported that the device will be available by this year end, but seems to be not happening.
Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, has confirmed on Weibo(a Chinese social networking site) that the company will be unveiling the Huawei Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 handset at CES 2013.
Low-end Windows Phone 8 affordable handsets have been a dream for many for those who cannot afford the Nokia Lumia 920. Several leaks and rumors suggested an early release of the device, but as the official note has hit out, the waiting need to be continued for one more month.
The Huawei Ascend W1 is expected to be equipped with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a 4 inch WVGA display. 512MB of RAM is on board along with 4GB of internal storage. There will be rear and front-facing cameras of 5MP and 3MP respectively and a 2000mAh battery.
In several leaks before, the device was photographed in cyan, white, and black color. The device will probably be available in Europe and Asia first.
CES 2013 will start on January 8 at Last Vegas.
