Huawei is set to unveil a new dual-SIM Android smartphone if we are to go by the recent listing at the FCC website. The FCC filing has fully revealed the features of the upcoming Huawei U8520 smartphone along with its user manual.
According to the filing, Huawei U8520 runs Android 2.2 Froyo and features a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display (320 x 480), a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, runs two SIM cards simultaneously, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of ROM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS navigation, 3 megapixel rear camera, WCDMA II and WCDMA V (1900 / 850 MHz) connectivity which means that it can support various GSM carriers across the North America (AT&T, anyone?). One good thing about this phone is that it can support 3G mode on one of the SIM cards though it can only work with GSM mode on the other SIM which is in use.
But then, these kind of dual-SIM handsets are not a norm in the North America as much as they are in the East especially in countries like China and India. Hence the chances of this phone seeing the day light in the USA are pretty slim. The fact that this phone has already appeared in some Chinese and Australian websites, does mean that it will be launched in other parts of the globe pretty soon.
