Kyocera Echo Gets Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update 2.002SP

A few days ago, it has been confirmed that the Kyocera Echo is the next Sprint branded phone to get the Gingerbread update process. According to a leaked document, the full will continue with over-the-air (OTA) update of Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Kyocera Echo handset from tomorrow, August 1st. Sprint has noted that the new software update, which is build number 2.002SP, will be rolling out to customers in waves, by following the standard Sprint OTA rollout – 10 % of Kyocera Echo handsets’ owners will be getting it on day one, 25 % on day two, 50 % on day three, and 100 percent on the fourth day Gingerbread rolling out process, and the the major software update 2.002SP will include the following enhancements:

# Swype 3.0 Enhancements.
# Addition of Download Manage app.
# Exchange Mail enhancements.
# "Eco" mode.
# Security fixes.
# EAS Enhancements.
# Improved powered management.
# Improved text input.
# Minor performance improvements.
# Manage Applications Control.

The Kyocera Echo phone will automatically download and install any available updates.

The Kyocera Echo handsets users that’d like to check for the update manually should head into Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> HTC Software Update –> Check Now –> OK –> Yes –> Finish downloading the update –> Tap Ok –> Reboot –> Done. Users may manually reboot the phone after the installation process is complete, in case it doesn’t restart automatically. After the completion of the Gingerbread upgrade process, the updated firmware should be shown as 2.002SP.
