A recently leaked report has provided new insights into the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 V flagship smartphone, revealing that the device is unlikely to be released in a smaller size compared to its predecessor, the Xperia 1 IV. This latest revelation contradicts previous rumors that had suggested the Xperia 1 V would offer a more compact design.
The leaked report included a detailed schematic of the Xperia 1 V, which has provided experts with an opportunity to dive deeper into the device’s dimensions and other features.
According to a recent report, the highly anticipated Sony Xperia 1 V is slated to hit the market later this year. Weibo leaker, Zackbuks, who has been known for providing accurate information in the past, has recently hinted that the new device will not be smaller than its predecessor. In fact, he has shared a schematic diagram of the flagship, revealing its dimensions to be 164.68 x 70.89 x 8.54 mm.
This latest leak contradicts an earlier report by @onleaks, which had suggested that the Xperia 1 V would be more compact than its predecessor. In comparison, the size of the Xperia 1 V, according to the rendering image that was leaked alongside it, is 161.0 x 69.3 x 8.5 mm. This suggests that the Xperia 1 V’s length and width are longer by 3.68mm and 1.59mm, respectively, than what was previously speculated. This is quite a significant difference. The original Xperia 1 model measures 167 x 72 x 8.2 mm, with subsequent models gradually reducing in size. However, it seems that Sony may have opted to maintain a larger form factor for its latest offering.
It’s worth mentioning that although the design of the Xperia 1 V in the rendering images from Oneleaks is almost a perfect match, there could be inconsistencies in the size information. The leaker Zackbucks, who provided this latest leak, has acknowledged that the data they obtained may not be entirely accurate.
Interestingly, the leaked report also notes that the weight of the Xperia 1 V may differ from previous models, with a deviation of around 5g. It remains to be seen what other changes or enhancements Sony has in store for its new flagship device, but fans are eagerly anticipating its release later this year.
It is worth noting that the earlier leak from February was based on information that Sony had made significant changes to the design of the Xperia 1 V, with a narrower and thicker chassis. However, the latest leaked report suggests that while the Xperia 1 V will be slightly thicker than its predecessor, it will retain a similar height and width.
There is currently no official word from Sony on the release date of the Xperia 1 V, but it is expected to launch in May 2023, with a possible sequential distribution to other markets. As with any new flagship device, expectations will undoubtedly be high, and it will be interesting to see how Sony responds to the challenge of delivering a device that meets the needs and desires of its customers, and it is expected that more information will surface in the coming weeks and months.
