LG has officially confirmed that its most best selling affordable LG Optimus One will be upgrading to Android 2.3 gingerbread. They didn’t give any specific target date for when this will happen. All the LG Optimus One hadsets are currently running on the Froyo OS.
Here is how the LG India has responded to a Facebook member:
“The upgrade of LG Optimus One to android 2.3 is expected by May end & will be available in the Android market,” although added that “this information is subject to change and confirmation on the upgrade is yet awaited.’
Back in 2010, LG has announced that LG Optimus One won’t be getting the Gingerbread update as it is having a 600MHz CPU and LG said that the Gingerbread running devices should be having a 1GHz processor and later Google’ Android team has confirmed that there is no minimum processor requirement for Gingerbread.
With the new Gingerbread update, Optimus One handsets should be able to get more improvements, copy and paste, gaming and speed enhancements, and a boosted battery life and many more bug fixes. Optimus One may not get the NFC feature with the Gingerbread update.
So Optimus One users, get ready for the Gingerbread this May.
