In late March, AT&T has officially announced the LG Thrill 4G handset, which is basically the carrier’s exclusive version of the original LG Optimus 3D – world’s first 3D-capable Android-powered smartphone. Five months have passed since AT&T’s official announcement, but the LG Thrill 4G handset has already been delayed a couple of times which was supposed to hit the markets on August 7th. According to an internal memo from Radio Shack, this handset will be releasing on September 4th.
We’ve a good news for those who are looking to grab this 3D-fangled handset. According a leaked memo, the LG Thrill 4G will be available to purchase for just $79.99 on a new two-year contract. The handset is going to be sold by AT&T for a very affordable $99.99 with a new two-year contract. So you will be getting $20 discount from Target retail stores. That’s not something you see very often, especially considering it’s actually 20% off AT&T’s official price. Hold on. This deal from Target is set to be available only in the first week of sales – between August 21 and August 27. But, the LG Thrill 4G is rumored to be hitting on September 4th. Hopefully, Target will apply the same deal event if the LG Thrill 4G launches in September.
Spec wise, LG Thrill 4G comes with the out-dated Android 2.2 Froyo OS (can be upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS), a glasses-free 3D display measuring 4.3 inches, running on a dual-core TI OMAP4 1GHz processor with 512MB DDR2 RAM, and equipped with dual-lens 3D camera on rear side with 3D recording, sharing and viewing capability – the two 5 Megapixels cameras on the back of the phone can record stereoscopic 3D video at 720p HD video in 3D @ 24fps, 1080p HD video in 2D @ 30fps, ability to upload these captured 3D videos directly to YouTube via a dedicated 3D YouTube app, able to output the 3D content to your TV via the HDMI port or the DLNA functionality, LG’s 3D Hot Key feature, and the 3D screen overlays can be turned off temporarily.
