Own a Motorola Droid Bionic? Late yesterday, we reported about the new soak test for latest firmware update on Verizon branded 4G LTE capable Motorola Droid Bionic handset. We even doubted that it could be the update 5.9.902, which has been making new since mid-January. Today, verizon Wireless has officially posted the details of a new firmware update on its website’s support page for the Droid Bionic handset. The new software version is 5.9.902.XT875.Verizon.en.US. The new update is decent size at almost 57.6MB, carrying a lot of changes, fixes for a number of bugs and other technological issues. This morning, the carrier has also started rolling out the Android 2.3.6/6.12.173 update for the Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX handsets.

The new OTA update should be heading to your Motorola Droid BIONIC through a notification alert, asking you to press “Download” button to accept it. However, if the update fails to hit your handset, you can pick this one up by moving over to Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> System Updates –> If you see the update is available –> Tap Download button –> Hit Install Now button –> Device reboots automatically –> Follow the instructions till the upgraded process finishes successfully in 10-30 minutes (approximately) –> Device reboots again –> Done. The software version on your Droid Bionic handset should be shown as 5.9.902.XT875.Verizon.en.US. Don’t forget to let us know the update is doing for you.
