As you know from our report earlier, Moto was supposed to roll out the Android 4.0.4 ICS update for the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi tablet. It’s official now. Motorola has started rolling out the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS update, build IMM76 for its Wi-Fi capable Xoom tablet. Motorola Xoom 3G is still in the “Evaluation and Planning” phase to get the this update and Verizon has yet to announce the update availability for its LTE capable Xoom tablet.
After upgrading to Android 4.0.4 ICS build IMM76, Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi users will get the following changes and other fixes:
# Quicker screen rotation
# A new setting to choose whether the power button immediately locks the device or not
# Microsoft Exchange improvements with additional EAS policies
# Better phone number recognition
# Camera and image quality improvements
# Improved stability
How To Manually Download Android 4.0.4 ICS Update IMM76 on Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi:
The new firmware update is being rolled out through an OTA (Over-The-Air) update process. If everything goes well, the OTA update should make its way to your tablet at any moment now. YOu can also try to pull the OTA update by heading over to Go to Settings –> Apps –> search for Google Services Framework –> Clear data –> Now go to About Tablet –> System Updates –> then hit Check Now button. The new build number should be shown as IMM76 after installing the Android 4.0.4 ICS update on your tablet.
