Last week, Apple announced the new Mac mini models with M2 and M2 Pro chips, along with the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro machines with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips inside.
The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini models are available to buy now. Starting today, you can pick up them at Apple Stores in the U.S. and select other countries, with no pre-order required. You can also order them online, and they will ship to you from today only.
While the custom configurations not available until at least February 10, the pickup dates for many standard configurations are being shown as January 26.Mac mini models offer a significant upgrade to the M2 models launched in June of last year. The M2 Pro Mac mini packs in a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU, with up to 32 GB RAM – and adds two additional Thunderbolt 4 ports. The M2 Pro-powered Mac mini offers up to 2.5x faster performance in Affinity Photo, 4.2x faster ProRes transcode in Final Cut Pro, and up to 2.8x faster gameplay in Resident Evil Village.
The Mac mini with M2 packs an 8-core CPU with four high-performance and four high-efficiency cores, along with a 10-core GPU. The M2 chip-powered Mac mini can simultaneously play up to two streams of 8K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps, or up to 12 streams of 4K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps. They are equipped with four Thunderbolt 4 ports and an HDMI 2.1 port, compared to two Thunderbolt 4 ports and HDMI 2.0 on the M2 model. They have support for Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, which is the fastest wireless networking standard.
the new MacBook Pros offer six times faster performance than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and support for up to 96GB of unified memory. They also offer 20% faster CPU performance and up to 30% faster graphics compared to the previous-generation models.
They feature Liquid Retina XDR displays, an all-black keyboard housing, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port, an SD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, MagSafe 3 for charging, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a six-speaker sound system, and HDMI 2.1 standard, which provides support for 8K displays up to 60Hz and 4K displays up to 240Hz. These new machines support Wi-Fi 6E, which brings faster wireless connectivity and lower latency over the 6GHz band.
The new MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 for the 14-inch model and at $2,499 for the 16-inch model, while the new Mac mini starts at $599.
