There has been much confusion and frustration over the last few months with regards to the old Windows Phone handsets receiving the WP7.8 update. A couple of days ago, Nokia Spain said that the Windows Phone 7.8 OS update set for roll out sometime in January, but refused to confirm a conclusive date. Today, we’ve another confirmation on the WP 7.8 update for the existed WP7 handsets. Nokia Italy has officially confirmed that the update “will be released in a few days” in an answer to a question raised by a Lumia 900 owner over its official Twitter account.
Back in late November, Microsoft has confirmed that they will begin roll out the much awaited Windows Phone 7.8 update in early 2013 for its aging Windows Phone 7 smartphones and for those users who can not afford to upgrade to any of the brand new Windows Phone 8 handsets such as Lumia 920, Lumia 820, HTC 8X, Samsung Ativ S and etc. But so far, neither Microsoft nor any carrier has given a specific release date for the update. Thanks to Nokia Italy for confirming that update is indeed rolling out in the coming days. Anyhow, the new Windows Phone 7.8 refresh should start rolling out by the end of this month and there are 3 weeks left after all.
Windows Phone 7.8 OS build will bring new Start Screen with resizable Live Tiles, new boot screen with the new Windows Phone logo, 20 more themes, Up-to-date Bing wallpapers on lockscreen, Nokia’s exclusive ingtone maker and Bluetooth file transfer app, and many more changes will be included in the package.
