Nokia has announced the availability of a new firmware software update that brings numerous enhancements to the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 handstes in the United States and Canada, with confirmation specifically for the AT&T and Rogers connected users. The update, which carries OS version 8.0.10211.204, brings a set of new features, meaning SMS Drafts fetaure under the lock screen the HTC Windows Phone 8X got a few days ago has arrived, among other things. It is the first ever Over-The-Air (OTA) update for new Lumia (920/820) WP8 handsets.
The update’s other offerings include a fix for connectivity issues, a minor Wi-Fi fix, which keeps Wi-Fi alive under the lock screen, addition of the automatic Wi-Fi Hotspot spotting, addition of the SMS Drafts feature, call rejecting feature via SMS, ‘Select All’ addition for easy deletion of the bulk messages, performance improvements, reliable Bluetooth connectivity and some more unexplained platform updates. We’ve also heard that it is carrying improved power management.
The update is being referred as ‘Portico’ or PR1.1 and it also brings welcomed fixes for camera enhancements. It fixes ‘fuzzy’ daylight photographs and increase sharpness in photos taken with the 8.7MP Pureview camera of the Lumia 920 handset. Most Nokia Lumia 920 owners will appreciate this change. Please note that the update is currently rolling out for the AT&T and Rogers branded Nokia Lumia handsets only. We are not sure about the global rollout of the latest firmware update.
