Since a long time, we’ve been hearing about so many rumors about the Finnish mobile company, Nokia entering the tablet market, but the manufacturer couldn’t make it real till now. Latest reports are suggesting that Nokia is preparing to bring a Windows 8 based tablet later this year. We already know that Microsoft is set to bring its full-fledged operating system to tablet PCs. In fact, Nokia is all about Microsoft at the moment and they are already selling a couple of Windows Phones – Nokia Lumia 800, Lumia 710 and gearing up to release Lumia 900, as well as an entry level spec’d Lumia 610 in the coming months.
Nokia Windows 8 tablet will powered by a dual-core Qualcomm processor and it will sport a 10-inch touchscreen display and it will release in the last quarter of this year. According to the previous Benchmark scores, the Qualcomm MSM8960 is around 50% faster than the Tegra 3 based tablet. We guess the Nokia windows 8 tablet will be also come integrated with Nokia Maps, Nokia Music, Nokia Drive and Mix Radio.
The production of the device itself will be outsourced to the The Taiwanese company Compal Electronics is said to be assembling the first Nokia tablet and first batch is said to be the rather modest 200,000 units. Google is also expected to enter tablet markets with a 7-incher Nexus tablet made by Asus this year and it will be priced at $199 – $249, and it would compete in the same class as Amazon’s Kindle Fire. So, hopefully, Nokia and Microsoft will manage to come up with an iPad rival and they will also challenge Asus, Amazon and Samsung.
