During the announcement of the new Nook Simple Touch Reader, Barnes & Nobile has announced the pre-orders and promised to release the device on June 10th. Late yesterday, the company has confirmed that it has started shipping the Nook Simple Touch Reader devices for the customers who have ordered it earlier.
The new smaller and lighter Nook device features a 6-inch touchscreen display with new E Ink Pearl technology, installed with the Froyo (v 2.2) flavor of Android OS (we are sure that you will be hack it the latest version of Android). It is Wi-Fi only version, having 2GB of storage for 1,000 digital books, and also has a micro-SD card slot support for even more storage up to 32GB. It weighs just 7.5 ounces and is 35 percent lighter and 15 percent thinner than the first-gen Nook. It gives two months of battery life on a single charge.

The new Nook features just one button compared to the Amazon Kindle’s 38. It sports an on-screen keyboard and it also allows readers to take notes with simple taps, and users can enjoy free hotspot access at all Barnes & Noble stores as well as every AT&T hotspot across the country.
