While we’re eagerly waiting for today’s India-focused global launch event for the OnePlus 11R and OnePlus 11, and OnePlus Pad tablet, the China-specific version of the 11R has already arrived, complete with a different name, the OnePlus Ace 2.
For the OnePlus Ace 2, OnePlus went with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the chipset we’ve seen some of the high-end premium Android phones in last year. Under the hood, the chipset is paired with up to LPDDR5X 16GB of RAM and up to UFS 3.1 512GB of internal storage. Everything else about the OnePlus Ace 2 is great for a phone at its mid-range price point.
A 40Hz-120Hz AMOLED panel and 100W SuperVOOC fast charging are the highlights here, with the 5,000mAh battery capable, which hopefully means it’ll last you a full day of use easily. OnePlus claims it uses world’s first SUPERVOOC power management chip, which improves the discharge efficiency of the dual-cell battery to 99.5%. The 100W charging is already pretty fast. The company claims this device can get to a 100% charge after 25 minutes using the 100W speed.
The OnePlus Ace 2 sports a 6.74 inch AMOLED display which has a 1.5K resolution (2772×1240 pixels), 1450 nits of peak brightness, 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, 1440Hz high frequency PWM dimming, Asahi Glass AGC protection, and comes equipped with in-display fingerprint sensor. The rear panel is also protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5. It weighs 204 grams and measures 8.7mm in thickness.
The phone itself is wrapped in a OnePlus 11-inspired huge camera circle n the back, including the standard alert slider that adorns its flagships. As for the cameras, the primary lens is a 50MP f/1.88 Sony IMX890 1/1.56 inch size sensor with OIS and, along with an 8 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens (120 degree, f/2.2 aperture), and a 2 megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture). On the front, there’s a 16 megapixel shooter for handling selfies and video chats.
OnePlus Ace 2 also has 5177mm² eight channel heat dissipation VC cooling for an improved heat dissipation that is twice as effective as typical VC liquid cooling mechanisms. It also features 12 high performance esports antennas and LinkBoost 4.0 network optimizations for improved networking stability and connection while playing games. OnePlus has introduced game frame stabilization engine 2.0 to optimize game screen in milliseconds for better gameplay in intense multiplayer games.
Remaining specs are including USB Type C port, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, 5G SA/ NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS.
The OnePlus Ace 2 arrive next Monday (February 13), but only in China for the time being. It is now available for pre-order in Vast Black and Glacier Blue colours, priced at 2799 yuan (roughly translates to US$ 412 / Rs. 34,120 approx.) for the 12GB + 256GB version, and the 16GB + 256GB version costs 3099 yuan (~US$ 456 / Rs. 37,760 approx.), while the top-end 16GB + 512GB model costs 3499 yuan (~US$ 515 / Rs. 42,655 approx.).
