Xiaomi made an announcement last week during the unveiling of Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 that the upcoming Redmi Note 12 Turbo, scheduled to launch in March, would be the first mobile device to feature the premium Snapdragon 7 series chipset. Xiaomi has now confirmed that the phone will be launched in China on March 28th, generating much anticipation among smartphone enthusiasts.
Accompanying the announcement, Xiaomi has released a teaser poster showcasing the sleek white and silver finish of the upcoming Redmi Note 12 Turbo. The teaser image reveals a triple rear camera setup with a design reminiscent of the Redmi Note 12 Pro series. However, unlike its predecessor, there is no camera bar on the phone.
The teaser image showcases a 64MP primary camera, and the device also retains the much-appreciated 3.5 mm audio jack and a convenient side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone also features dual speakers, a USB-C port, and an IR blaster on the top. The rear of the device features a redesigned aesthetic, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding its upcoming release.
Earlier rumors have suggested that the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will sport a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and an impressive 120Hz refresh rate. The device is also rumored to boast a generous 5,500 mAh battery, capable of being charged at 67W for lightning-fast charging speeds. If these speculations are true, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo could prove to be a highly desirable mid-range smartphone with an exceptional balance of power and efficiency.
According to Lu Weibing, the general manager of Redmi, the upcoming Redmi Note 12 Turbo phone, powered by Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, emphasizes performance to enhance the user experience of mid-range products. Weibing stated that the chip incorporates all the top-of-the-line features of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, setting a new benchmark for mid-range smartphones.
While there may be a slight difference in peak performance between Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the former stands out in terms of overall energy efficiency. He explained that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 strikes a balance between power consumption and performance, making it an optimal choice for users who prioritize battery life and smooth performance.
