If we are to go by the leaked information of a new Android tablet from Xiaomi, we are in for a surprise launch of what could be called as the Redmi Pad 5G. The photos and specs of the upcoming Redmi Pad 5G tablet from Xiaomi were leaked in a tweet by TechInDeep. It’s been a while since Xiaomi tried its luck at the Android tablet since the launch of its Mi Pad 4 in 2018. The Android tablet market since then has been mostly dominated by Samsung Galaxy Tab and Huawei’s MediaPad lines of tablets.
If we go by the rumors, the Redmi Pad 5G might will get launched alongside the MIUI 12 and the Mi 10 Youth Edition which are expected to launch on April 27. The tablet is set to launch with 5G connectivity and will derive power by a Snapdragon 765G processor. The tablet will run on the MIUI for Pad which will be a customized version of MIUI 12 for tablets. The screen size of the display hasn’t been revealed yet. However, the tablet will feature a high refresh rate panel of 90 Hz (remember Mi Pad 4 had a 60 Hz panel). It will also sport quad-speaker setup for a better audio experience. The tablet will feature a 48-megapixel rear camera with AI. The Redmi Pad 5G will support 30W fast charging.
We will have to see how it will fare against the likes of the Apple iPad (10.2”, 7th Generation) and Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite once it is launched. The Mi Pad 4 was notorious for leaving the owners in the lurch without offering the updates to their devices. We will get to see how Xiaomi makes amends for that this time around with their new Android tablet launch.
Pricing and Availability:
No official word on the tablet from Xiaomi yet. The Redmi Pad 5G might well be known as Mi Pad 5 in Europe. The tablet may get a price tage of CNY 1,999 or US$282. With the basic iPad starting at $329 and often selling for much lesser than that in sale, Xiaomi better watch out the price tag. There is no word yet on the availability in the US.
