Last time, when we wrote about Jelly Bean update distribution for Rogers branded HTC One X handset, we said that the update will be released for other Canada based carrier versions at some point in January. According to the official HTC Canada twitter account, the much awaited Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean rollout has now begun and Telus is the second carrier to get the One X Jelly Bean update in the Canada, with other carriers to follow shortly. We are happy that the manufacturer hasn’t forgotten about its One X series users and we applaud them for pulling this off.
In addition, this new firmware update brings a ton of changes, including a number of UI tweaks, such as the latest version of HTC Sense 4+. dubbed Sense 5, new camera capabilities, a couple of revamped apps (Gallery app, and HTC Watch app), Google Now, improved scrolling performance (thanks to project Butter), enhanced usability, as well as resizable widgets.
If it is not available for your device right now, do not panic. The update is being pushed out in waves, so not everyone will get it right away and we are sure you won’t have to wait for too long. The whole update weighs in around 629MB of size. If you can’t wait for the notification to hit your device, you can check for the update by hitting into Settings –> About –> Software Updates –> and hit Check Now and follow the on-screen instructions. Happy updating!
