AT&T just tweeted that the long awaited Froyo (Android 2.2) update for its Galaxy S-branded Samsung Captivate through Kies Mini software. Not the Over-the-air (OTA) update.
Download and do a full installation of the Kies Mini software on your PC and connect your Samsung Captivate to PC. The PC will recognize the handset.
Some of the new Improvements with Android 2.2 Froyo update
# Adobe Flash 10.1 support.
# Ability to store and run non-forward locked apps on the SD card.
# USB Tethering.
# Mobile Hotspot for up to five users.
# Improved security.
# A self timer for the camera/camcorder.
# The ability to use the phone as a modem.
# Alpha-numberic password options.
# Enhanced Microsoft Exchange Support (Auto-Discovery, Global Address list look-up, Increased Security Features, and Exchange Calendars)
# Bettered kernel memory management.
# Ability to Install Apps Directly to SD card.
# Speed and Performance Optimizations.
# Some other modifications and bug fixes takes place.
