Sprint is now rolling out an over-the-air (OTA) update for its Samsung Epic 4G handsets. The new firmware update bumps the software version up to FC09 for the Samsung Epic 4G handsets. Sprint has bundled up a fix for Epic 4G handset that fixes some issues with force closing when receiving a phone call. The new firmware update FC09 also brings Sprint Connections Optimizer for the handset that lets optimum data usage and preserves battery life and it will turn off/on network setting and connect to the network with the best coverage and connection speeds. In late January, Sprint has released the EL30 software update for the Samsung Epic 4G handset to remove the Carrier IQ and also carried a few bug fixes.

Samsung Spic 4G handsets users should be seeing the notification alerts on their handset asking you to install it. If the update fails to make its way to your handset, you can force the update by heading over to Home Screen –> Menu –> Settings –> About phone –> tap System updates –> and hit Update Android button –> If the update is available –> Update will be downloaded automatically –> Follow the on-screen instructions and let the upgrade process finishes successfully. That’s it. Your handset will be successfully upgraded to S:D700.0.5S.FC09 software version.
