The handset which has pictured in the above image is likely going to be the Sony Ericsson’s first ever dual-core processor equipped smartphone, and it will be called “Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo”, bearing the model number ‘SK19l’. Long back, we heard about the trademark filing on the name of ‘Xperia Duo’, along with Xperia Arc, and Xperia Neo. Since then, we haven’t heard anything about this beast, and now the folks over the Chinese blog IT168 have managed to grab this image. We believed that the company was supposed to launch the Xperia Duo at this year’s MWC 2011 event along with the Xperia Play, Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo, and Xperia Pro.
The dual-core Xperia Duo is sporting the same hardware keys on the front side (sporting the similarities of the Xperia arc), which is a trademark for the Xperia family. We are guessing that it will be coming with an 8 megapixel Exmor R camera sensor from Xperia Arc, but many sources are claiming that there could be a 16 megapixel camera to take the full advantage of the dual-core CPU capabilities, and surprisingly, the handset is rumored to be lacking the LED flash feature. The source hasn’t provided any specific info on the hardware details of the handset. This handset is expected to feature the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine touchscreen display which is either a 4.3-inch or a 4.5-inch one, and the launch time will decide the Android version that the phone is going to pack. So it could be the newly introduced Android Ice Cream Sandwich or the latest Gingerbread OS pre-installed on this handset.
The release date and the price value is yet to be known. We will see for more official updates on this handset and will let you know all the exciting details of this unannounced Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo handset.
