Sony Ericsson launched two major Xperia series devices Xperia Arc and Sony Ericsson Xperia Play this year, the later being an exclusive PlayStation branded gaming device. Among the many features that both devices sport, Xperia Arc has got a HDMI output while the Xperia Play doesn’t. An HDMI-out for Xperia Play makes more sense because it gives users an opportunity to play their favorite games on the bigger screen. But somehow it was not the case with Xperia Play as it didn’t feature any HDMI-out port.
Now then, we have an anonymous photo being sent to the unofficial Sony Ericsson Xperia blog, which shows a Xperia Play mobile phone being connected to a TV possibly via HDMI out and the TV is displaying a game that is currently being played on the mobile phone. The cable might be a micro-USB to HDMI or a native HDMI cable connected to the HDMI-out port of the device. This picture could be one of those fakes, may be created by someone who want to see such kind of feature included in the kit. But it does raise some questions. Is Sony Ericsson working on a redesigned version of Xperia Play? Or is that the Xperia Play has inbuilt option for micro-USB to HDMI output but needs a software update to enable it? Nothing can be derived as of now, only time will tell.
