Citing water resistance issue, Sony has halted the sales of its new Xperia Tablet S in Japan and recalls sold tablets for repair. It is after a month since the launch of Xperia Tablet S in major markets, that gaps between the screen and the case have been found. This defect can pose a risk to water damage of the supposed splash proof device.
The Part number which are in question are SGPT121JP / S, SGPT122JP / S, and SGPT123JP / S. If your Sony Xperia Tablet S has a part number as mentioned, you need to return it for checkup and repair to Sony.

As reported, Sony spokeswoman Noriko Shoji said the problem with the tablet is the result of a manufacturing flaw at the Chinese plant where it was fabricated. At the moment, Sony didn’t report any decision concerning the resume of sales.
Sony promised to revamp the defected tablets sold without any charge, and for them it doesn’t mean to have any significant impact on their earnings.
Android 4.0 ICS powered Sony Xperia Tablet S started shipping on September 7 in United States, followed by Japan, Europe and other markets. Until now the company has shipped around 100,000 tablets.
Sony Xperia Tablet S features with NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 9.4-inch display, 1GB RAM, Android 4.0 and 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage.
