Of all the companies delivering Android 13 updates to their devices right now, Sony is doing pretty decent in this process. We’ve seen Android 13 updates come to last year’s Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV flagships in November 2022, and now they’re also gradually downloading to the company’s Sony Xperia 10 IV handsets, which launched last year with Android 12 onboard.
The Android 13 build for the Xperia 10 IV handset is getting firmware version 65.1.A.4.8 as an OTA update in Southeast Asia. The update also brings the December 2022 security patch, and it is currently rolling out for the Asian dual-SIM variant (model number XQ-CC72) in Southeast Asia only.
If you can’t wait for the update to hit your handset, you can download the full firmware package from Sony’s servers using the XperiFirm tool by XDA Senior Member IgorEisberg and flash it using Flashtool (GUI) or Newflasher (CUI).
Android 13 for the Xperia 10 IV will get you the Material You design language with theme, color, and icon customization options, updates to digital well-being, and security, the ability to set different languages for different apps, improved permissions, and much more.
Users outside the Southeast Asian countries could see their software show up in the coming weeks by trying out under Settings > Software Update or can always flash it manually when the right build is ready for your handsets based on your regions.
