From a recently posted photo on Facebook, it was confirmed that Sony India will launch the Sony Xperia Z smartphone on 6 March i.e. today. Now, the smartphone is up for pre-ordered at online retailers such as Flipkart starting INR 38,900 ($700).
The Sony Xperia Z is packed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 pro quad-core processor, a rear-facing 13MP camera with Exmor RS for mobile and video HDR mode, 2GB of RAM, a 2300mAh battery, and NFC. The device comes with a high-level of dust (IP5X) and water resistance (IPX5/7), running Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS out of the box.
In addition to the smartphone, the retailer is now accepting pre-order for the Sony Xperia ZL smartphone which is not certified for IPX5/7 (Water-resistance) and IP5X (Dust-resistance) unlike the Sony Xperia Z. It is priced at INR 35,990 ($650).
Last week, Xperia ZL was approved by the FCC and confirmed that it will heading to the US very soon. Again, we also reported that, it will be available in Europe this week.
There is no specific availability date of the smartphones in the Indian markets as of now, but Flipkart has listed the expected delivery period as third week of March.
Besides Flipkart, another retailer “The MobileStore” has also started taking pre-order for the Sony Xperia Z at INR 40,000 ($730). This retailer will deliver the device to your doorsteps on March 12.
In Indonesia also, Sony Xperia Z smartphone has been up for pre-order at 7 million rupiah ($725) and it is expected to be available on March 16.
Sony will offer the Sony Xperia Z in three different colors: Black, White, and Purple but Black and White will be the only color options for the Sony Xperia ZL.
