Late yesterday, Sprint has announced that it will start selling the new Overdrive Pro 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot router from March 20th, with a price tag of $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year Sprint agreement.
Overdrive Pro 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot lets the Sprint users to connect up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices to share a 3G/4G connection simultaneously. This router can connect to the Sprint’s 4G network to offer download speeds that are up to 10 times faster than on a 3G network.
This router offers a 35 percent improvement in power-up and power-down times, and 45 percent larger integrated LCD screen, comparing to its predecessor. Double pressing the power button would get you more detailed information about the device, signal strength, remaining battery life, how many devices are currently connected to the hotspot, and its connection. It comes with integrated security out-of-the-box.
Sprint suggests that is WiMAX speeds come in at 6-megabits per second in "real-world, loaded network environments."
Overdrive Pro offers up to 150 foot range for Wi-Fi connections, and support for 802.11n. The Overdrive Pro also features GPS support, shared micro-SD storage, and location-based services to all connected devices.
