A few day ago, we reported that Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset has appeared at FCC labs and set for imminent release. Now, we got a word coming from a trusted source that’s been very reliable in the past that the Sprint is gearing up for mid-April release of its version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. S4GRU website has revealed that Galaxy Nexus handset has been confirmed to release on April 15th.
It’s worth noting that the source has mentioned that Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus won’t have LTE turned on by default. The handset will support eHRPD, which is a protocol that lets the handset to switch back and forth between 3G EVDO and 4G LTE connections. So, you can save the battery life, while you won’t use LTE radio. Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus is also expected to get the LTE Self Discovery mode sometime in June. Suing this mode, the handset can search for a LTE signal on it is own, and turn LTE off itself automatically if it cannot reach the LTE speeds.
As opposed to the 1.2GHz Verizon version, Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus packs a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and it will sport the 4.65” Super HD AMOLED display, Android 4.0 ICS build, 1GB RAM, enhanced 5MP rear camera with 1080p HD video recording capability, Google Wallet support with NFC capability.

The source has also revealed that another Sprint will also start selling the LG Viper on April 15th along with the Galaxy Nexus handset. LG Viper is another LTE capable phone from the carrier and it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core chipset, 4” display with 480 X 800p resolution, 5MP rear camera to record 720p HD videos, 4G LTE capability, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM with microSD card slot, 1700mAH battery, DLNA, Google Play aka Android Market. The handset will also come preinstalled with Smart Device Manager, Sprint ID, Sprint Zone, Visual Voicemail, NFC with Google Wallet support.

There is no word on the price tag info of the both these handsets. LG Viper should be priced at an affordable price tag.
