A couple of new affordable Android phones in Y series launched in India by Vivo. Earlier today, the Chinese manufacturer has officially launched both the Vivo Y100 and Vivo Y56 handsets for the Indian markets. Both are 5G capable phones, and arrive with decent hardware specs under the hood.
Vivo Y100
The Vivo Y100 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset, two 2.4GHz Cortex-A78 cores, six 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores and a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. The other major advantage of the Y100 is the 6.38” Full HD+ AMOLED display. It has 1,080 x 2,400px resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
It runs Android 13-based Funtouch 13 UI out of the box. Furthermore, it packs a 4,500 mAh battery charged through a USB-C port at 44W charging speeds. The Y100 features an in-display fingerprint reader and comes with three cameras – a 16MP selfie shooter inside the notch, with the 64MP primary camera with OIS on the rear joined by a couple of 2MP shooters for taking care of the depth and macro capabilities.
Vivo Y56
The Vivo Y56, on the other hand is an entry-level range smartphone, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC (supports 5G bands in India) and sports a 6.58″ 90Hz Full HD+ IPS LCD with 60Hz refresh rate. It runs Funtouch 13 based on Android 13 and has a 5,000 mAh battery under the hood that draws power through a USB-C port at up to 18W.
The Vivo Y56 sports a 50MP primary camera on the rear, accompanied by a 2MP secondary sensor. For selfies and video calls, vivo slapped a 16 MP camera on the front. The camera setup includes a variety of modes such as Photo, Night, Portrait, Video, Panorama, Live Photo, Slo-mo, Time-Lapse, and Pro. The smartphone also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and has Wi-Fi on both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz frequencies as well as Bluetooth 5.1.
