In 2023, Sony is expected to release two flagship models in the Xperia series, namely the Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V. While there have been numerous leaks regarding the Xperia 1 V, information regarding the Xperia 5 V has been scarce and mostly based on rumors, with very little reliable information available.
However, an interesting piece of information regarding the release date of these two models has now emerged on Weibo, which is worth noting.
According to recent Weibo posts, the Xperia 5 V will have a 6.1-inch FHD+ display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset, while the Xperia 1 V will have a 6.5-inch 4K display and the same chipset.
This information, although not groundbreaking, is in line with previous Xperia models’ specs. The leak suggests a possible release date in June, which is a reasonable timeline for the Xperia 1 V’s release. What’s intriguing about this leak is that it suggests both models will be released at the same time.
It’s worth noting that in the past, the Xperia III series was announced with both the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III, but the release dates were still staggered, with the Xperia 1 III in early summer and the Xperia 5 III in the fall. There has never been an instance where both series were released simultaneously.
Although there have been numerous leaked images and renderings of the upcoming Xperia 1 V, the same cannot be said for the Xperia 5 V. It seems that there is little reliable information available about this model, with only a few rumors circulating. It remains to be seen what the device will look like and what its specifications will be, but fans of the Xperia series are eagerly anticipating its release.
Furthermore, the benchmark scores for the upcoming 2023 high-end model has already been found with a model number of “XQ-DQ54”, which is most likely for the Xperia 1 V. However, there is speculation regarding the last letter “Q” in the model number, as the previous model, the Xperia 5 IV, had a model number of “XQ-CQxx”. Some suggest that this model number might actually be for the Xperia 5 V instead of the Xperia 1 V.
It’s worth noting that compared to the Xperia 1 series, there is generally less information leaked in advance for the Xperia 5 series. In some cases, they have been announced with almost no prior information. As a result, it’s not entirely impossible that the Xperia 5 V could be released around the same time as the Xperia 1 V.
