Vizio’s Android Tablet Meets FCC; Priced At $349 Within Walmart’s System

You all might be aware of that in early January, we reported that the budget priced TV brand Vizio is readying a tablet and a smartphone to launch later sometime this year. But since then, we really haven’t heard much about both of these devices. The tablet might be called Vizio VIA tablet, according to Vizio. Recently, the tablet has made its entry to the FCC as the VTAB1008. So we are not sure if both the VTAB1008 and the Vizio VIA tablet names are referring to the same tablet. FCC is not allowed to reveal any of the specs of the tablet, but we can see the labels of HDMI and Bluetooth in the below image. FCC is strictly required to keep the specs confidential until August 30th.

Vizio VTAB1008 Tablet Hits FCC

Vizio VIA tablet would be having a 8-inch high-resolution capacitive touch screen, a Micro-SD card slot support for memory expansion, powered by 1GHz processor, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 connectivity, GPS, HDMI output with HD video playback, infrared port, and a front-facing camera for video chats. The tablet also comes packed with three speakers for stereo audio, in both portrait and landscape mode. We are still not sure whether this tablet will be equipped with a dual-core processor or not, and the tablet’s Android OS version is still mysterious.

Vizio’s tablet will come pre-installed with an IR blaster app, which lets both the VIA tablet and the VIA smartphone to control each other, to send commands to Vizio’s TV lineup, and to the home theatre, and has an infrared port with the preinstalled application.

We’ve also learned that Vizio VTAB1008 Tablet has made an appearance in the Walmart’s inventory system with $349 price tag, which is very affordable price tag for an Android tablet these days.
