The crew at TechnoBuffalo has revealed the details of the first ever Google Nexus tablet. The source claims that the Google Nexus tablet will be built by Asus (once again confirmed) and the search giant is gearing up to unveil it at this year’s Google I/O event on June 27th. It’s worth talking with a grain of salt that NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 chip will power the internals of the Asus-made Google Nexus tablet. NVIDIA is already working on a strategy to bring a Tegra 3 powered Ice Cream Sandwich OS running tablet for an affordable at the $199 price point.
The next version of Android OS, Jelly Bean is expected to be unveiled in late fall or early winter. But, the source is receiving some “conflicting reports” on whether or not the Nexus tablet would come preinstalled with Android 5.0 Jellybean OS. In fact, a bunch of previous rumors also suggested that the first Nexus tablet would ship with Jelly Bean OS.
A couple of days ago, DigiTimes reported that first Nexus table will start hitting the stores sometime in July with an initial batch of 60,000 units. The price point is always oscillating around the $149-$249 mark. Asus-made Google Nexus tablet could be the Kindle Fire killer and it is also expected to give some tough competition to the recently released 7-inch Samsung Galaxy tab 2 and the rumored iPad Mini tablet.
