In December last year, French Consumer electronics manufacturer Archos’s upcoming device, the Family Pad 2 tablet showed up on GL benchmark pages, running Rockchip RK3066 processor and FCC approved the device as well. Today, Archos has showed off the device at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in Las Vegas.
The Archos FamilyPad 2 is running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. This tablet having a 13.3-inch 1280×800 pixels display weighs around 4.9 pounds, a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 2MP front-facing camera and 2MP rear-facing camera, 3D G-sensor, USB & HDMI 1.4 port and a 10,500mAh battery to run the tablet.
This tablet can be used for family viewing like watching movies, playing multiplayer games or performing other activities. The large enough display of the tablet can even replace your TV(small) as an interactive device at your home. Hence the name Family Pad.
The Jelly Bean flavored Tablet and its cortex processor make it perfect for games, reviewers have also found no lag or serious problems with the basic UI. I think it can be a great device for kids at home, not meant for carrying around though. Speaking of which, at this CES we have seen a couple of Tablets meant for Kids.
The manufacturer didn’t reveal the price and availability information. But we are hoping that the device will be available in the market very soon.
